Notes on the performers Mike Graver After leaving the RAF Mike joined Tad Newton’s Jazzfriends where his elegant piano contributions have been heard at major venues such as The Barbican, The 100 Club and Ronnie Scott’s plus numerous jazz festivals including Guernsey, Upton on Severn, Teignmouth and the Isle of Bute, Scotland. Mike has performed with many of the leading British jazz stars including Digby Fairweather, Roy Williams, Alan Elsdon, Campbell Burnap and John Barnes. Mike has broadcast on BBC radio, appeared on television and made a number of recordings in his own right as well as contributing to Tad Newton’s Jazz Friends CDs and those of Cate Cody and Richard Leach’s 7 Stars of Jazz. Erika Lyons Erika Lyons first caught the attention of the public in 1978 when she was selected for the BBC Master Class with American bassist Ray Brown. This was followed by two years in New York where she studied with Buster Williams, Rufus Reid and Hal Galper. She played in major US clubs including the Blue Note and the Jazz Forum where she worked with top names such as Walter Bishop, Eliot Zigmund and Betty Barney. On her return to England, Erika works recording, broadcasting and performing with top British and International musicians
